Welcome!

A lot has happened since I completed my first roll of black & white film in May1967, using an Agfa Clack borrowed from my mother. At that time Fokker's Friendship production was in full swing and the "old" Schiphol was visited daily by a fascinating array of propliners. Many hours were spent there, but also alongside the Soesterberg runway, where F-102 Delta Daggers were serving with USAF's 32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron. My first slides date from 1973

My first air-to-air photography session took place in June 1981 and I immensely enjoyed a first fast jet flight in 1982 on board a Canadian Air Force CF-104D Starfighter. Many such highlights followed. My association with the Royal Netherlands Air Force Historic Flight (previously Stichting Vliegsport Gilze-Rijen), the Fokker Four team and the Royal Jordanian Falcons has been a key factor in the air-to-air successes achieved in the course of time. During an early morning light over the spectacular Wadi-Rum desert I portrayed the Royal Jordanian Falcons from the rear ramp of a CASA 212. Aviation Week & Space Technology awarded this picture with the 1994 "Best of the Best" title in their prestigious annual photo contest. My site opens with this milestone in my photography career.

My agency Aviation Photos International was formally established in 1987. It provides an "umbrella" for my photographic activities as well as those of a number of associates worldwide.

To all those who have lend me their pilot skills during the air-to-air sessions I am greatly indebted. Equally so, to all those who have been ready to assist me in arranging for flights and granted the necessary permissions or whomever supported me in any other way. Without them the pictures on this site would never have been accomplished. And last but not least there has always been the loving support of my dear wife Meta. She has lovingly put up with my aviation activity and passion for well over a quarter century and has been instrumental in arranging most of the trips abroad that ultimately produced many unique shots.

I hope you will enjoy the photographs and that you will not hesitate to share with me your comments or suggestions. Please log in again in the future. The Recent Encounters Gallery will keep you up to date on my photographic endeavours.

Magazine editors, book publishers or advertising agencies, please contact me at any time for your aviation photography requirements.
